Mother's Day Sunday At the Bowens

Then Bowen family has a family dinner at Paul and Jackie's house almost every Sunday and they are always kind enough to invite us over when we are in Florida (actually when we are in Alabama too).  Donald always grills the meats and the others bring dishes to pass. I brought sliced Vanilla Cream Cake and Mac&Cheese.
Most of the family members are usually there.  Sometimes the neighbors are there too.  Today it was Mike and me, Paul and Jack, Donald and his buddy, (David??), Eric and Debby and their children Eric and Angelia, and Al and Judy.  The food and the company were great.  So glad they invited us.  The weather was perfect...about 83*.  Judy and I want to get to go to the Casino one day and Paul is off on Thursday..maybe we can do something together too. I hope I get to see Kathy too.  I miss having JM, Johnny and Maria, and Nicholas, Kathy and Steve there also...they usually are at the family gatherings when we are down in Florida.  At the holiday times, Diana and her family are often here too.

For some reason I didn't think to take any pictures until after Judy and Al left but I did get a twins picture of Paul and Mike.

So far for Mother's Day, I have chatted with Bethany (she sent me a few texts) and Kelly called from my house in Blissfield to wish me a Happy Mother's Day.  At first I thought it was Mike calling me from the other room because our home phone comes up with a picture of Mike.  They are having the second meal at my house without me...the first one was Easter Dinner.  I wore my Mother's Ring today...glad I brought it.

The stones don't show up very well but they are Peridot for me, Topaz for Kelly, and Sapphire for Jewel.  Maybe I'll try a new picture later.

Jewel had trouble getting in touch with me by my cell phone...so she had to text me and I called her back.  for some reason she said my phone was going right to voice mail.  She said she had a great mother's day and hoped mine was good too.  She says I need to come home.
Kelly and Julie say that we will have a cook-out when we get home to celebrate Mother's Day together.
In the evening we took RB out for subs and went to the cemetery to put flowers on Louise's, Mike's mother,  grave.  Mike's grandparents are buried there too and also an aunt. We put flowers in both urns.  I loved the flowers...I picked ones I thought Louise would like.  There is even a butterfly in each bunch.

Can you see the butterfly in the flowers?

Fun Things To Do At The Beach

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Today we slept in a little...I love to sleep in. I think it is because as a teacher I always had to get to work early and now I don't. We got ready and went to Pensacola Beach. While we were driving there I took pictures of things people can do at the beach.

After we left the beach, we went to Joe Paddy's Restaurant and had shrimp..yum, yum.

Then we went back to RB's house and visited with him a while. He wanted to go to Fazolies Italian Restaurant for supper, so we did and it was good.

Then we all took an evening drive to downtown Pensacola. Afterwards I spent the evening working on my vacation blog and edited pictures. The Internet service was slow at Cocoa Beach...so it took a really long time to edit and load the pictures. I finally gave up on that part of the blogging. I was glad the Internet card worked better here. Isn't it funny that Internet and cell phone service was not good at Cocoa Beach, especially since it was in the heart of NASSA?
