Family Trip To Cocoa Beach April 2011 Day 1,2,&3
Our Trip To Cocoa Beach
Mike & Connee…Jewel, Destany, and Tanner
Ocean Landings Resort
We were so lucky to get to use this resort. It is owned by Jewel's one and only, Jeff's father...Bill Smith. He especially got some condos during Spring Break so family could come down and visit Florida. We all really needed a brake from the bad winter weather, so we really appreciated being able to use this great condo on Cocoa Beach. Thanks Bill and Lois...you guys are awesome.

We left Saturday after Jewel got off from work. About 5:00pm we all loaded into the Honda Van and drove all the way to Cocoa Beach. Mike started out driving and then Jewel finished up. We had some rain and fog while Mike was driving but mostly pretty good weather. Destany and Tanner were able to be on line in the car because we brought our Sprint card and they had their cell phones and iPods. Destany helped me set up my GSL game.
Destany took pictures of the toll booth people on the WV Turnpike.
w ate KFC, potato salad, fruit salad, cookies, Jewel’s subs and snack foods all the way down to Florida. Fuel for the long trip.

The condo is right on the ocean with a balcony looking towards the beach and ocean.
We changed into our swimsuits and went right to the ocean. There were some nice rolling waves and surf. The water was cool at first, but the kids went right in and enjoyed the water…Jewel too.
I went looking for shells…didn’t find much...and Mike and I napped on the beach.
Guess who?
We were all a little hungry and had noticed a Long John Silvers on the way into Cocoa Beach. In Adrian, our LJS has closed and we all liked it and missed it.
We decided to go there for Easter dinner. It was a Taco Bell too, so I got a taco, chicken planks, and a Cherry Limeade. Then we came back to the condo and Jewel, Mike, and I took a nap..until 12:00am and the kids explored the beach a little. The adults woke up and discussed some grocery plans for tomorrow and went back to bed. Those adults need their sleep you know!

Jewel got up early and went to the grocery store and got some things for breakfasts and lunches. Then she made some very good sausage and biscuit gravy. We saw a guy using a kite to race a little go cart type beach buggy on the beach, but I didn't get my camera in time to get a picture. Missed him twice..as he came back down the beach and I still didn't have my camera ready. We all got our swim suits on and headed to the beach. We got one rental lounge chair and used our Mexican blankets and sarongs to lay out on. The sea water was a little cool, but Destany and Tanner had no trouble getting in it. Jewel bought them blow up floats and they seemed to be fun.
Us Moms, stood in the shallow ocean water for a while..the waves were kind of rough. Mike, Jewel, and I laid in the sun on the beach for awhile. When we got hot the three of us went back to stand in the surf to cool off. There was the cutest little boy surfing on the little waves. The two teenagers left us and went to the pool while we were still sunning. About 2:30, we decided to go check out the pool. It was wonderful too...heated and so refreshing.
that is where the hot tub was....it is great..hot and bubbly. Those jets were just like a good back rub.
Finally we went back to the condo and showered and got dressed. Jewel made macaroni and cheese. We also had ham and cheese sandwiches if we wanted them . We went to get pool towels and more pillows and on to the main avenue to check out some shops nearby. We stopped at Ron John's Surf Shop first. Everyone says your visit to Cocoa Beach is not complete unless you go to Ron Jon's Surf Shop. It is the original shop.
I think it had unusual souvenirs. I bought Kelly a journal called Memories by The Sea. It was made to look old. Then I found a little journal for Bethany with a Peace Sign on it. Bethany loves things from the 60's. I got Tiffany a note pad with a sea turtle on it. The funny thing about these gifts were that they are made of elephant poo. They look just like home made paper...quite pretty. I can't wait to give the gifts to the girls. PS. they don't smell bad. Tanner got his girl friend a sea shell there so she can put it to her ear and hear the ocean. By then everyone...especially Mike and the teenagers were ready to leave. The kids and Jewel went back to the condo and Mike and I checked out the area a little more. It was during this driving back to the condo time that we noticed we were all kind of burnt. Destasny and Tanner were a lovely shade of hot pink and the rest of us weren't far behind. I went to buy Solarcain...spray and lotion....a blue Aloe Ice Gel (that promised instant relief), and some white vinegar...my old fashioned sunburn relief solution. After showers everyone looked really burnt and were definitely feeling burnt. Destany said she has never been burnt before. I also bought cheese garlic bread for when we make spaghetti, some veggies...Jewel and her children resist on veggies, but I think everyone needs veggies, fresh pineapple spears and fixings for peanut butter/jelly and dill pickle sandwiches. We ate leftovers for supper...still have some cheese macaroni, potato salad, and fresh fruit cups left. The Wells are watching TV, Mike is napping, and I am working on the computer. Very Good Day!

The condo is very nice, fairly large, and set up well for two families. It has a full kitchen, two bedrooms, two baths, king size bed, 2 twins, and a pull out couch. It has a big living room, balcony, and a deck on the other side with an elevator and stairs.
